Hi
I'm not an audio expert but AFAIK, FLAC is probably the best solution to store lossless audio streams. Similar to TIFF for pictures.
The difference (with TIFF) is that we don't have FLAC support for now in Mediawiki... and it seems there is no way at all to upload audio streams in a lossless format for now.
I have found two related features requests:
- https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39867
But both don't have pretty recent comments and don't seem to be actively followed. My question is: Does someone has a project to fix that point in a near future?

Hi,
We do have FLAC support provided it is in an ogg container. For example: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Muriel-Nguyen-Xuan-Brahms-rhapsody-o...
Which gets transcoded to a vorbis file, and then played in browser. But the source file is indeed using the FLAC codec.
It would of course be nice to be able to upload flac files in their native container format too.
