If wikimedia.org sets the domain for a cookie to wikipedia.org and the browser DOES acceept the cookie, will the cookie ever be given to wikimedia.org by the browser? And the answer here is "no".
It is possible to set several cookies in a single request response. Thus: Set the same cookie for several domains.
We *COULD*, but it would be rejected by some browsers. Some browsers don't allow cookies to be set by one domain to be used by another. This also leads to the next question:
I see where /that/ would be a problem... :(
Nevertheless, I suppose we could still create a central user database. Although users would have to log in for each domain, they would still log in to the same account, retaining the same Wikimedia-wide preferences, etc.
