Hi,
I don't know if this was the right way to reply (I don't know if I should write here, or reply to a particular person) :) As I said in my application for the mailing list, I would like to participate in this years GSoC2012 by contributing to Wikimedia. I am a student from Macedonia, I study at the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering in Skopje. From what I've seen, surfing trough the Wikimedia GSoC2012 web site, the prerequisites for joining here are PHP, JavaScript, knowledge of relational databases etc. I have some basic knowledge of PHP and MySQL (I've taken some online courses in PHP in MySQL at Lynda.com - the "essential" course, and the "beyond the basics" course) and I think I can adapt in the Wikimedia project without a problem.
So, that's my short intro, sorry again if I've written it at the wrong place, and... It's a pleasure to meet you all.
Filip
Hi, Filip, and welcome to our community. Yes, you probably should have started a new mailing list thread to introduce yourself rather than replied to an existing thread on a different topic, but that's a minor sin. :-)
I hope you invent or find a Google Summer of Code project idea that appeals to you, start writing a proposal (a subpage of your mediawiki.org userpage would be a good place to put it), and share it here and on our IRC channel https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki_on_IRC .
Best,
