The OpenID used to log in should be tied to a real wikidb account (and I assume that your "alias" is the wikidb.user record's "username" value). We explored implementing it this way, but the current patch requires no database changes and we figured that would be a nice migration selling point. But you're definitely right: using OpenID auth alongside normal auth in this way *does* effectively sidestep problems with trying to overlap username and OpenID namespace formatting rules.
