Before I go find the foundation mailing list and ask them, has there been any discussion of a wikipedia owned mirror to lessen the load on the main servers and keep the content accessible in case of an outage? I'm imagining that this could be accomplished by the the mirror independantly refreshing from the recent changes page RSS feed - although I guess it would be more efficient for it to pull the updates directly from the database. Anyway, the beauty of an official mirror is that searches could be randomly directed to it (or one of several official mirrors) and the "edit" links from the mirror(s) point back to the "live" site. This is such an obvious idea that I'd guess it's already been proposed and discussed, but I did a little searching and didn't find anything, so I thought I'd ask.
