Thanks for the pointer. I didn't expect that I would be the first to propose this feature -- it is too obvious, I just did not find it :-))
So, my suggestion to use pseudo random string (associated with the user's login name and kept in the user's table) in full RSS URL will resolve the privacy problem: the user does not have to be logged in to read the RSS, but she must be logged in to know her RSS link. And there is no need for public watchlist.
