We can display interwiki links ordered by language list in a MediaWiki message. Thus within each project it will be possible to adjust any uniform sorting: order by language names (latin names, then cyrillic, then hieroglyph...) or order by language codes or have ahead a few "major" languages.
And if this "MediaWiki:Interwikiorder" is empty then list will be formed like now.
Will it be useful feature?
I always felt that the inter-wiki links should just be sorted by the software in one pre-defined way. I find it highly unprofessional that some Wikipedias use a different sorting than other Wikipedias. For example, the Hungarian Wikipedia places (or placed, it's been some time) the English link (if any) at the top and sorted the rest alphabetically. I quite strongly disagree to such a scheme, but not knowing Hungarian, I cannot participate in any discussion about it.
