I've commited a tool (maintenance/transstat.php) to CVS that makes the localization statistics prestented here: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Localization_statistics, if any of you have some free time to waste you could help update the current translations or help prune old redundant messages from them (see bug 2502 (http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2502)).
I've put in quite a bit of work to translate through MediaWiki: pages as the LanguageXx.php files were not updated very often, and if something was wrong, it could take a while. There is no way I'm going to retranslate or backport all that by hand, and I have a feeling many other languages may be like that. If someone wants those translations, they may be better off taking a dump of the MediaWiki: namespace, or writing a script that makes a .php out of them.
