Can the documentation on https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Specs/HTML/2.7.0/Extensions/Cite (or elsewhere?) be updated for these changes?
A little birdie pointed me to https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Specs/HTML/2.8.0/Extensions/Cite. I've updated the redirect https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?diff=6584815&oldid=5871845&title=Specs%2FHTML%2FExtensions%2FCite to point to it as well.
