Actually, wikisyntax is a language by definition. Looks LALR(1). I've always assumed there was solid computer science going on here, rather than mere ad hoc jiggery pokery.

Hopefully we'll get it sorted out and formally defined "soon". (It would be a lot easier to get reliable wysiwyg editing going with reliable transformations.)
Please add to the Summer of Code projects. I'm over a quarter century out of date on the latest language theory and tools, but serious students will be most helpful in this area.
I'd put edit input syntax checking ahead of wysiwyg. I'm sure I'm not the only one that gets bored fixing bad links and tables.
