There is nothing bad about the flash format. If it works in a free player I'm not aware of any other objections.

I am not a lawyer and I am not speaking on behalf of MediaWiki developers or the WMF, but there's a simple practical problem: the format may be open, but if you cannot actually use this WYSIWYG editor with nothing but Free Software, then it cannot be on a WMF project. Flash 10 is not Free Software. If this editor will work with an appropriately Free Flash player, such as Gnash or swfdec, then it can be considered to be included in a WMF project. Is this right?
