Ok, consensus among core devs is that the laptop will go to Tim Starling, who's put in so much excellent work on the system over the last year or two (especially in our database load balancing support, text block compression, and other vital areas) and so far is laptopless.
Tim will be using it for the hackathon and taking it home after Wikimania.
Great idea! He deserves a lot more than a laptop, but we won't tell him that.
