It's definitely less work to delete away what you previously wrote if next time you want to look for something else than to re-write it if next time you want to check your spelling. I would go even further and request that after a *succesful* 'Go' search the text remains - it's been quite often that I got a page, only to grudgingly re-enter my search text because I intended to do 'search' instead... (Question: Why didn't you hit 'search' directly then? Answer: I was working on interlanguage links at the time, and used manual editing of URLs. Because the 'search' term is different from one language to the next, copying it would not have helped much)
