There aren't any rules to bend, in this case. Usurpation only applies to an unresponsive account you want to replace. If the owner of the target name is agreeable, then of course you can get renamed to it (with the target renamed to still something else).
Well, you might want to break the rule that accounts can't be merged. But that's imposed by the Renameuser extension, so it can't be overridden by anyone on-wiki. A sysadmin could still do it easily enough, but given that it's one edit, who cares?
(Of course, if the merging algorithm is using live edit count in its calculations, you could also get around it by spamming a ton of vandalism reverts or something . . . now would be a good time to go for RFA, too, if there are people conflicting with you . . .)
