Especially when the same can be archived with a plain wiki anyway (as many of the WMF communities already do) or if you want to get fancier, with LiquidThreads which is now also active on a few projects.
Wikis aren't perfect for everything. We use Wordpress as a blog. We use Bugzilla as a tracker. A number of communities have tried Ideatorrent (or similar applications), and have found they work really well.
This platform gives the ability to vote ideas up and down, and to give solutions to ideas that can also be voted up and down. We do not have the ability to do this in MediaWiki right now.
Is there really any harm in trying something out?
