How to make commits from mirrored Wikimedia repos show up on your GitHub profile

I know it has been annoying a couple of people other than me, so now that I've learned how to make it work I'll share the knowledge here. tl;dr: Star the repositories. No, seriously. (And yes, you need to star each extension repo separately.) Usually, having push access gives you that connection. In this case, you don't have push permission, so we don't link you to the commit. The easy solution here is for you to star the repository. If you star it - along with the other repositories that are giving you this problem - we'll see that you're connected to the repository and you'll get contribution credit for those commits. Research FAQ gets a facelift

We just released a new version of Research:FAQ on Meta [1], significantly expanded and updated, to make our processes at WMF more transparent and to meet an explicit FDC request to clarify the role and responsibilities of individual teams involved in research across the organization. The previous version – written from the perspective of the (now inactive) Research:Committee, and mostly obsolete since the release of WMF's open access policy [2] – can still be found here [3]. Hello, can someone to update list https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/P10500 which contains repositories which haven't mediawiki/mediawiki-codesniffer. I found in list that much repositories are empty, and repositories which aren't available on Gerrit. So, can someone please update this list of repositories (in mediawiki/extensions) which haven't mediawiki/mediawiki-codesniffer, but at least, contains one PHP file. or to provide me command with which I can update list when I want, so I don't need to request it every time. Wikimedia Enterprise HTML dumps available for public download

I am pleased to announce that Wikimedia Enterprise's HTML dumps [1] for October 17-18th are available for public download; see https://dumps.wikimedia.org/other/enterprise_html/ for more information. We expect to make updated versions of these files available around the 1st/2nd of the month and the 20th/21st of the month, following the cadence of the standard SQL/XML dumps. This is still an experimental service, so there may be hiccups from time to time. Please be patient and report issues as you find them. Thanks! Microsoft Word to Wiki (via LibreOffice)

Our users have found that using LibreOffice to convert MS Word documents to wikitext is the best approach to getting 'mostly there' when you want to create a wiki page from some MS Word document. In the past, I've created a headless LibreOffice setup to accept file uploads to give editors a conversion service. I don't have that setup available anymore. My question is: "Does anyone know of a service that *is* setup to use LibreOffice to convert MS Word to wikitext?" I searched the ToolHub to no avail. Thanks, Greg

Hello, I am Mahfuza, an Outreachy applicant for round 23. I am contributing on Create MediaWiki-Docker documentation for all repositories with Selenium tests project - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T256239 As a subtask for this project right now I am working on this microtask - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T293095 So, I installed Fileimporter locally, ran `npm run selenium-test` command and my output is this here - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/P17637 My goal is to run selenium-tests without any error. I followed these instructions mentioned here but still getting error - https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:FileImporter It would be really helpful if someone can help me regarding this issue. Survey on the improvements in syntax highlighting

This year, the Technical Wishes[1] team at Wikimedia Germany has deployed several improvements to syntax highlighting [image: OOjs UI icon highlight.svg] (CodeMirror extension) on a few wikis incl. Mediawiki.org, Testwiki, Wikitech and a handful of Wikipedias. In a small survey[2], the team would like to ask about your experience with the improvements [3] [4] [5]. The survey[2] is now open and will take about three minutes to complete. Thus you can share your feedback with the development team and, last but not least, let us know where some rework needs to be done. The survey is anonymous and runs until November 14th.
