how
Please, tell me which data you need for setting up a project?
According to my information, data are:
* language
* language code
* type of project (Wikipedia, Wikinews etc.)
* logo
* the name of project in local language
* the name of the project namespace
* the name of the project talk namespace
Anything else needed?
Hi,
Upon creating a Selenium test to run through the Navigable Table of Contents
on
http://prototype.wikimedia.org/en-wp/index.php?title=Manchester_Small-Scale…,
I noticed the instruction:
Verify that moving the cursor from one section to another causes the various
sections to be highlighted in the table of contents . I do not see this and
wonder if it applies to an older edited version. Does this instruction still
apply as the contents appear in the preview section above the edit text box?
If so, is it expected that moving the cursor from one section to another in
the edit window highlights the matching section in the preview section
above?
I went to the live sandbox at
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Sandbox&action=submi<goog_1090557813>
t<%20http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Sandbox&action=submit>
to verify the edit functionality with the preview and edit section. Again, I
am confused as to whether moving the cursor from one section to another, in
the edit box, highlights the matching section in the preview box. Are there
any insights?

PS: I am using Firefox version 3.6.8 on an Ubuntu 9.10 Operating System.

Dear all,
The improvements to the page editing interface by the experience team are great. I especially like the new insert link.
I was wondering, whether it is possible to have something similar for templates, maybe with following functionalities:
- suggestions for templates are listed while typing
- short descriptions from the template page are shown
- when a template is chosen, the user is asked for its parameters
With that the users would not need to remember all templates, their syntax to use, and their number of parameters.
Does anyone know whether that exists already or is planned? If not, how could that be implemented?
Regards,
Benedikt

Hi, I checked the dumps of the Italian Wikipedia at
http://dumps.wikimedia.org/itwiki/
and I found there are 6 dumps available, the latest 2010-Jun-27, the
oldest 2010-Mar-02.
My question is: are older dumps stored somewhere? Is it possible to
get them? Even if this involves running some script on old database
dumps, that would be ok.
(I posted this question at
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Data_dumps#Oldest_Wikipedia_dump_availa…
as well.)
Thanks in advance!

This is a follow up to "wikipedia is one of the slower sites on the web".
In Math preferences what does the "Recommended for modern browsers"
option actually mean? I like to think of myself as someone who uses
modern browsers, so i select it on every MediaWiki site in which i
open an account, but i never seriously thought about its meaning
except fantasizing that it uses MathML, which it probably doesn't.
I also think that trying to select "MathML if possible" didn't change
anything for me (Firefox 3.6.8 on XP).
There's a question similar to mine at
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help_talk:Preferences since 2006.
