Stevie Benton from Wikimedia UK stevie.benton@wikimedia.org.uk got a call from Today FM (Ireland) looking for someone this afternoon if possible. I can do it, but it'd be much better if someone in Ireland did. Could someone please get Stevie's email out of the mod queue? Thanks :-)

Did somebody do this? If not, David, could you forward Stevie's mail? I don't know who moderates this list. -Jodi

wikimediaie-owner@lists.wikimedia.org ... which appears to be ... no-one at all!
I wonder if *anyone* runs the list ... if you're in .ie you might end up with the job ;-)
At present I'm down for the task tomorrow morning. The show's likely time is 10am-10:30am. I assume Stevie won't be in until tomorrow morning, but if someone in .ie is available I suggest emailing him now with phone number and guarantee of availability at that time.

After lots of faff to organise it, the phone-in segment has been canned, though it might be mentioned for 30 seconds in passing in the Fix-It Friday segment.
So now all we need to do is find someone willing to keep an eye on the list itself :-)

Hello all,
Pamela from the Ray D'Arcy Show has just dropped me a line to say they are keen to still do the segment next week, especially if we can track down an Irish Wikipedian who is keen and chatty. If anyone is interested in taking part next Friday please do let me know.
Thanks and regards,
Stevie

Did they give any info about the nature of the segment? General Wikipedia-in-Ireland stuff? On Apr 20, 2012 11:38 AM, "Stevie Benton" stevie.benton@wikimedia.org.uk wrote:

It's partly that. They had a question from a listener asking how Wikipedia gets up to date so quickly. The listener watched the Grand National and wondered how old the winning jockey was, got to his Wikipedia page and within two minutes of the end of the race his page was updated with a mention of his victory.
There's scope to speak about the Wikipedia in Ireland too, could be a good chance to encourage more people to get involved.

I told 'em the actual answer was "a volunteer editor was waiting on the page to be the first to update it, just waiting to press the button."

ga.wikipedia.org has had 86 people do anything at all this month. There's lots of room there.
