Meeting Minutes-14 April 2015

We welcomed a new member to our group, Emma Clarke.
User Group
EE has confirmed that Wikimedia UK will transfer domain to WMF and they
will be able to provide access to email addresses for use by the group.
Edit-a-thons
SE and RO are travelling to NUIG on Thursday to run a women is Irish
history edit-a-thon. SF will also attend.
Conferences
Cochrane Conference-25 April-EE and SE are running a workshop at this
conference.
IMA Conference-June-RO will write a proposal for us to present at this
conference.
DRHA Conference-August-RO will write a proposal for us to run a workshop at
this event.
WLM
SE has heard back from a few Heritage Officers to add monuments to the list
for 2015. Carlow, Westmeath, and Wexford do not have Heritage Officers. RO
will investigate how we can contact those counties.
RO raised the idea of a possible “Wild Card” category for the 2015 contest.
SE will contact the DAHG to set up a meeting to discuss the list and our
future partnership.
Other Events
Wiki Loves Earth-RO attended WikiGLAM in the Hague this past weekend. There
is a lot of support for Ireland to hold a Wiki Loves Earth contest. The
Ukraine chapter even offered volunteer support. RO conducted some research
on the contest-it is similar to WLM in that there is a curated list of
natural sites, but most countries also have a wild card category for any
natural image. RO found several websites with lists of natural sites in
Ireland for us to use. The group will continue to look at it for possible
inclusion in out 2016 program.
An application was made for a grant through the Arts Council to run a WLM
type event focused on the people and places of the Easter Rising.
We will not be meeting next week. The next meeting will take place on 30
April 2015 at 6:30pm in Dublin. If you would like to attend, either in

User Group
Chromebooks have arrived. They will be kept at EE’s office and can be
signed out from there. EE is still researching WiFi options.
EE sent the email about the domain to the foundation.
Edit-a-thons
NUIG-16 April 3-6pm. SF has updated the project page. SE will reach out to
previous participants via Talk pages.
RO will reach out to Science Gallery to arrange meeting about hosting a few
events with them.
JQ is waiting to hear back from PRONI.
Conferences
RO is attending Glam Wiki in the Netherlands this weekend. She will report
back next week.
Wikimedia UK sent an email about a Digital Research Conference to be held
in Dublin in August. RO will look into it and see if we she apply to
present a paper or a workshop.
The next meeting will take place on Tuesday 14 April at 7pm in Dublin. If

User Group
EE ordered 4 Chromebooks as per our outreach grant. They should arrive
sometime next week. They are available for anyone to use for Wiki related
events-edit-a-thon, conferences, ect. We will keep track of the computers
here <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Community_Ireland_Logbook>.
Domain Name:Wikimedia UK heard back from the foundation. They would like
domain transferred to them and they will continue to maintain it for us. EE
will contact them requesting the transfer and ask about the availability of
wikimedia related email addresses.
Edit-a-thons
Still no word from WITS or IADT about events with them.
Part 2 of the NUIG edit-a-thon has been confirmed for 16 April. SE, SF and
Rebecca will be attending.
Conferences
Rebecca’s abstract for the DRI conference was not accepted.
SF submitted an abstract for the EdTech Conference in May.
NUIG Conference on 19 June-we have been confirmed to present a 2 hour
training session. We will discuss as theme over the next few weeks.
WLM
The map points have all been updated. SE went through the Architecture
website’s “Places to See” section and identified 90 new points.
SE will send out emails to local heritage officers.
SE and EE are working on a grant for the Arts Council to create a contest
around sites associated with 1916.
Misc
Joseph went to PRONI, but his contact was not there. He will send an email
this week.
