We welcomed a new member, Gabriel Beecham, to the group.
Edit-a-thons
-
Irish Year of Design-the edit-a-thon has been tentatively been scheduled
for 10 October in Limerick City. More information to follow.

UCD-still in the planning stages. RO has access to the Wikipedia
Education site. SHe will report back to the group on its effectiveness.
Conferences
-
Python Meetup-EE spoke at the Python monthly meeting about the technical
challenges of Wiki Loves Monuments. One organiser suggested a workshop,
possibly at their annual conference in October.
WLM
-
The DAHG grant was approved with €1000 granted to cover PR expenses. SE
spoke to MKC PR and came up with a plan for the coverage. They will get
back to her with a plan and press release this week.

Unfortunately Minister Humphreys will not be able to attend the launch
at Archeaofest on 29 August. EE, SE, RO, and EC are scheduled to attend the
launch.

The grant to WMF has been submitted.

RO has confirmed two judges and SE has confirmed a third. Their bios
will be placed on the website shortly.

We are looking to schedule an upload event in the middle of the contest,
possibly in conjunction with a photowalk.

The website will have the upload links for the contest before it begins
on 23 August.
The next meeting will take place on 1 September 2015 at 6:30pm in Dublin.

Survey-RO contacted WMF and the South African Chapter for guidance on
developing a survey to send out to our users. WMF has a survey question
bank. We just need to decide what we want to learn. Some of the questions
we will ask include general demographics, knowledge and use of Vicipéid,
what activities they are interested in attending, knowledge of the group
and our activities. RO will look at the survey bank and see if she can
develop a survey for us.

Conferences
Valetta, Malta-October-RO has confirmed her attendance. She will presenting
a paper comparing the two years of WLM.
Python Talk-12 August-EE is giving a lightning talk about WLM at the
monthly Python meetup
WLM
Grants-the DAHG grant has been submitted. SE will submit the WMF grant this
week.
RO will create an invite for the launch on 29 August.
Other Events
Meetup-We didn’t have a good turnout. It was decided by the group that we
would attend other group’s meetings to try to recruit instead of holding
our own.
UCD-RO was contacted by a professor in UCD for help running a Wikipedia
module in the autumn. RO is investigating the use of the Education
Extension.
Irish Year of Design-RO was contacted by a professor at University of
Limerick about running a Wikipedia module focused on the Year of \design.
They are also keen to run a hack-a-thon in October or November.
RO heard back from WIkipedia Library will some helpful advice. They will be
joining one of our next meetings to discuss it further.
