Edit-a-thons
JQ is moving forward with the event at PRONI in early 1916. He will reach
out to universities close to PRONI. SE to send an email to Wikimedia UK
about the event.
Conferences
NUIG-SE and SF ran the training at the CELT 15 event at NUIG. We had 12
participants, with most of them new users. We had several participants
editing Vicipéd as well.
DHRA-RO sent an email pulling out of the event due to the excessive
participation fees.
WLM
One of the judges from last year nominated a member of the Dept of Arts,
Heritage and Gaeltacht as a judge.
In response to the minutes from last week SE was contacted by a WIkipedian
in Waterford about the monuments there. He will help created a Waterford
City list by contacted the director of the museum in the city.
SE will put out a call on Twitter about monuments in Galway and Limerick
cities.
SE will begin to work on the grant for WLM 2015.
EE will begin research on a way to have a people’s choice category. We
would like to add a wild card category as well. SE will contact the
international team about what information would be required.
Science Gallery
RO hasn’t heard back from Bletchley Park. She will send another email.
EE is creating his list.
SE will contact a couple of professors at UCD and TCD about intelligence.
Misc
Open Government Project (OGP)-EE will attend the OGP conference on 14 July
on behalf of the group. We are hoping a formal document will come out of
the meeting.
Freedom of Panorama-The EU Parliament is debating the changing the Freedom
of Panorama regulations, which would greatly affect Wikipedia. SE will
forward the information to Oliver to look for guidance.
The next meeting will take place on Tuesday 30 June at 6:30pm in Dublin. If

Conferences
EdTech 2015-SHaron Flynn presented a paper on using Wikipedia in the
classroom. The talk was standing room only and led to a twitter chat with
the WIkimedian in Residence at Bodleian, Oxford.
NUIG-SE will be joining Sharon at the workshop at CELT 15 on 19 June. The
meetup page has been created and a list of suggested articles have been
added. A member of DBpedia, who has been in contact with Sharon, will be
attended as well.
DRHA-It was suggested that we apply to Wikmedia to cover the cost to put on
the workshop at this event. It was decided instead to pull out. RO will
contact them via email.
WLM
SE sent an email to the judges from last year to ask for suggestions for
judges for this year.
Another county heritage officer has responded and supplied a list of
monuments. RO will reach out to Carlow again for their list.
SE will research Limerick, Galway and Waterford Cities for lists of
monuments.
Other Events
SECRET-Science Gallery-RO has reached out to her contacts at Bletchley
Park. She will also reach out to the Women’s History Association and to
WITS.
Oliver Moran passed on an invitation to attend the Open Government
Partnership forum in Dublin in July. We will attempt to find someone to
attend on behalf of the group.
Wikimania-RO is exploring the idea of presented at the Learning Day
workshop in the run up to Wikimania in Mexico City. She might present a
paper on our unsuccessful edit-a-thons.

No news on the domain name transfer.
Edit-a-thons
STEM-we had a good turnout for the edit-a-thon last week. We had 8
participants in person (that’s not including EE, SE and RO) and 2 online. 6
of the 8 in person participants were new users. So far 11 articles on Irish
Women in STEM were worked on.
PRONI-JQ has been in touch with his contact in PRONI. They are receptive to
hosting a WWI themed edit-a-thon. JQ will move forward with securing a date
in the autumn. He will also begin contacting other museums/archives about
similar events.
Conferences
NUIG-19 June-SE will wait to hear from Sharon about the workshop.
DRHA-1-3 September-RO was notified in order to run the workshop we need to
purchase a 1-day admission to the conference which for students is €115. RO
will see if we can get around that.
WLM
The website has been updated with 2015 information.
We did not receive the Arts grant for a 1916 themed photo contest. We will
go forward with it anyway. We will explore options to crowd-source 1916
monuments.
RO has a photographer friend who is willing to escort her to meetings of
local photography clubs to talk about the contest. They will discuss the
particulars this week.
Other Events
Science Gallery-SECRET-23 September-We are still looking for speakers for
this event.
