Andres,
These are questions we get asked a fair bit. The answers are on our FAQ
page, at
https://wikimedia.org.uk/wiki/Volunteers_-_Frequently_Asked_Questions -
it's a little complicated, but essentially members can vote to elect the
board of Wikimedia UK, and they act to hold trustees to account. There are
a few hundred members of Wikimedia UK at the moment. Membership is open to
all; you do not have to live in the UK, be over a certain age or be editors
of any of the Wikimedia Foundation projects. All we ask is that members
agree to support our Objects (
https://wikimedia.org.uk/wiki/Objects#Objects)
and not to bring Wikimedia UK into disrepute. In terms of time, membership
takes up maybe an hour or two per year - although it can take up more if
you want to be more active.
You can join at
https://donate.wikimedia.org.uk/civicrm/contribute/transact?reset=1&id=4 -
let katie.chan(a)wikimedia.org.uk know if you have any private questions!

I should've sent this on my last email, but I
apparently forgot:
1. What kind of responsibilities and obligations does one have as a WMUK
member?
2. Can I sign up? What are the requirements? Who should I contact about it?

I think the additional wmuk members will
continue. I signed up and
those who came to the lunch signed up too.
I think we have heard a few people mention they shall sign up soon too.
Cheers!
