Hi everyone, I will be taking the train from Milano Centrale to Varenna-Esino on June 22, at 16:34. Is there anyone who wants to join me? I would feel much better if I knew someone going that way. I've already bought the train tickets, by the way. I'm looking forward to seeing you all in Esino Lario! 馃槂

Barbara - We might be planning to take the same train, plus a few other people. Which train are you taking?

Hi Gustavo,
please note that the direct train from Milano Centrale to Varenna-Esino is at 16.20 (not at 16.34).
Kind regards, Marta

I will be making the same journey (time tbc) on Tuesday 21 June (assuming I am told I have accommodation before then!). I also would be happy to travel with others (or to share a car, if someone would like a contribution towards fuel costs).
I'm arriving at Malpensa at 11:10 and I don't have a shuttle ticket, so I guess I'll be taking the train to Varenna Esino too. There is a train connection from Malpensa at 13:13, with a switchover at Milano Centrale at 14:20.
That train would arrive at 15:23 at Varenna, where we have 7 minutes (wtf?!) to find and board the bus at 15:30, which will get us to Esino Lario by 16:10. Hopefully.
Sounds like a fun ride...

It's a pretty small station: http://osm.org/go/0CmXiWuAm
I think it'll probably be a matter of getting off the train, walking out of the station (it doesn't look like there are too many steps), and looking for a bus. Should be plenty of time.
[image: Inline images 1] Pretty small station. You'll find the bus.

Oh yes, good point, it is a biggish building. But still, I'd call 2 platforms, 2 lines about as small as things get other than tiny rural stops. I just meant that one is unlikely to get confused and wait at the wrong part of the carpark for the bus (as I've been known to do all too many times, in strange lands like Birmingham...)
:)
In Varenna with your registration code, transport from the railway station Varenna-Esino to Esino Lario is free. there will be volunteers every day at the station. also the bar (coffee il binario) at the station will provide you information if it is late and the volunteers are not there. the railway station in Varenna is very small. you just need to get out of the train and go to the exit. Look for the bus. In general if a train from Milan is arriving, the bus waits for it. the timetable was design also to have busses (for what is possible) when trains arrive.
please look for our volunteers. we are noting down names to facilitate the registration and it is a good idea to reserve a ticket on next bus in case you arrive and there are no seats available (we put as many busses as possible but it can be possible since we don鈥檛 have data about your arrival in Varenna - or for the data we have the number of busses seams appropriate). regards and see you very soon iolanda

By "reserve a ticket on next bus", do you mean when we arrive at Varenna-Esino, or before we get there?
