It’s not obvious who has access to the information collected by accessing the tinyletter
page (there’s no privacy link on it, and it’s not obvious that you’ll be taken to a
non-Wikimedia page by clicking on the subscription link on the registration page), nor
that collected by completing the form.

I guess the opposite was the intent. Rather they wanted at a list
where they could send notices that would be moderated/curated and
slightly easier to join/leave. (maybe also lower volume vs. this list)
