I want to add relationships between Mexica :Q3307681and Aztec Empire
:Q794210 [1] where Mexicas were an indigenous people of the Valley of
Mexico, known today as the rulers of the Aztec empire. I haven't found
any properties that seem appropriate to me so I'd like to get your
insight before adding any. What properties would be most appropriate?

Hi all,
I just discovered that there seems to be a limit on the length of
property values... some properties for compounds, however, are longer,
the InChI being a good example... 400 chars is not enough for some
compounds in Wikipedia, like teixobactin (Q18720369)....
This length is not defined by the property definition itself (InChI
(P234)), so I am wondering if this max length is system wide, or if
there are options to vary it? A max length of 1024 is better, though
still would not allow InChIs values for all compounds...
Looking forward to hearing from you, and a happy new year,
Egon

Hi everyone,
The Research team at WMF and our collaborators at Stanford are
co-organizing two Wikimedia research workshops in April and May 2016 as
part of ICWSM (International Conference on Web and Social Media) and WWW
(World Wide Web Conference). If you have on-going, past, or future research
about Wikidata (or other Wikimedia sister projects) that you would like to
share with the rest of the research community, please submit an extended
abstract (2-page) or a full paper (8-page) for one or both conferences. You
can read more about call for papers at:

Hey folks :)
The new identifier datatype is getting ready. Once we have it we will
put identifiers into a separate section on items. This is part of our
effort to make items easier to scan in order to find the information
you're looking for. Right now identifier properties are of datatype
string. Please have a look and see if any properties we should migrate
are missing or if any we want to migrate should not be migrated. You
can find a list at
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:Addshore/Identifiers. This list was
made by Adam based on statements on the properties.
(For the technically inclined: The datatype will change for these
properties but the value type will stay string.)
Cheers

Hey folks :)
OpenSym is coming up and it'd be awesome to see some research on
Wikidata presented there. So if you're doing research on Wikidata

Hey folks :)
Wikipedia's birthday is coming up this Friday. I think it'd be sweet
if we could have a little Wikidata/Wikipedia-related gift. A nice
visualization maybe? Anyone wants to work on this?
Cheers

Dear all,
I am making my first steps with SPARQL and would appreciate some help
from those in the know (got some help already, but am still getting
stuck easily).
Specifically, I am trying to get an overview of statements that are or
could be sourced to items that are scientific papers.
What I got so far:
(1) Wikidata items that are instances of scientific article
(Q13442814) and have a PMID (P698) or PMCID (P932)
https://query.wikidata.org/#PREFIX%20wd%3A%20%3Chttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.wikidata.o…
(2) Wikidata items that are instances of scientific article
(Q13442814) but do not have a PMID (P698) or PMCID (P932)
https://query.wikidata.org/#PREFIX%20wd%3A%20%3Chttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.wikidata.o…
What I want now is a list of (ideally) statements (or - less ideally -
items with such statements) that have references of one of the types
given in (1) and (2).
Any pointers?
Thanks,
Daniel
