Hello,
I want the subject's mailing list to be translatable and delivered the
same way as it's with Tech news. I've asked about it on it's
subscription page's talk page and faced there Lydia, who doesn't believe
that there would be any volunteers (except for me in the current point)
to translate it.
So if you would like to translate the newsletter when it would be set to
be possible, could you leave a note in
[[:m:Talk:Global_message_delivery/Targets/Wikidata#Multilingual
distribution
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Global_message_delivery/Targets/Wikida…>]]
about your willing so we get Lydia convinced :) Poking friends who may
do it is welcome as well ;)
Also it would be nice if Odder or/and Guillom leave a note about
technical side of such delivery the same way as the latter was so kind
to leave in Education newsletter's talk :)
Yours sincerely,
--Base
Hey folks!
Wikimania is coming up and I need your help! I will be giving a
keynote about Wikidata and would like to show the human side of our
awesome project. Wikidata wouldn't be what it is without all of you
and I see Wikimania not only as an opportunity to highlight all of the
exciting software developments around Wikidata, but to also show off
what an awesome, creative and diverse community we have here!
To do this, I would like as many of you as possible to send me a photo
of yourself - a selfie (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q12068677) would
be perfect. Bonus points if it either demonstrates a connection you
have with Wikidata or includes the Wikidata logo somehow. You can be
subtle and sneaky with the logo or go big and bold—the only limit is
your creativity! All submissions should be licensed CC-BY and you must
have the right to upload and use the image. Additionally it’d be
awesome if you could send me a sentence or two about what Wikidata
means to you. (Either use my user talk page or send me an email.)
Submission deadline is July 20th. When you're ready, upload your file
to Wikimedia Commons in the category “Wikidata selfies”
(https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Wikidata_selfies). Need
some inspiration? Check the category.
I’m sure we can be just as famous as the Oscar selfie:

:P
Cheers
Lydia

Hi,
Will the monolngual text datatype support old languages? There are
settlements that had an "official name" in a now dead language. Besides of
"no language", will there be an option to mark such names as "custom" and
use the qualifier "language (p407)" instead?
Thanks,
Micru
Hey folks :)
I just uploaded a new mockup for Wikidata's user interface design.
Thanks so much for your feedback so far!
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:UI_redesign_input is the place to be ;-)
Cheers

It's a single wiki used by a lot of other wikis. Quite like Commons, and
news about tech updates on Commons do make it to Tech News.
Wikidata is severely underused by templates, even though templates are
supposed to be Wikidata's biggest killer application, so more PR about it
really won't hurt. Examples of successful use of Wikidata in templates in
some projects, even without tricky technical details, can go a long way to
furthering Wikidata adoption.
Hi everyone!
I seem to have problems with installation of Wikibase repository. I'm oding
the following:
1) Downloaded mediawiki 1.23.0
2) followed the instructions here
After the last step of installation I try to access any page, for example
Special:SpecialPages and get the following error:
