Hello everybody!
I was wondering which property to use when I'd like to add the URL of
the digital collection site of a GLAM institution. In the case of
museums, digital collections and catalogues often coincide, so
"https://sammlung.staedelmuseum.de" can be added as P8768 to Q163804
(Städel Museum). But especially libraries often have a dedicated digital
collections site alongside the catalogue. Is there a property for this?
I couldn't find anything.
Some examples to illustrate what I mean:
Harvard Library (Q3232931) -> online catalog URL (P8768)
"https://library.harvard.edu/"
But how can I specify the digital collections
"https://library.harvard.edu/digital-collections"?
The same problem with Berlin State Library (Q170109) and
http://stabikat.de <http://stabikat.de> (catalogue) and
https://digital.staatsbibliothek-berlin.de/ (digital collections).
In the case of Bavarian State Library (Q256507) the situation is
slightly more intricate: there is a separate item for the department
hosting the digital collections (Q111308594) where I've add the URL
(http://www.digitale-sammlungen.de/) in P2699. I don't think that this
is a very elegant solution and would be happy if you could help!
Thanks!
Best,
Alexander

Hi:
Just wanted to share with you that LaOficina, the NGO where I work at, has
applied for a WMF's rapid grant in the GLAM domain, We are a very small
cultural association and are creating our own digital archive, so we need
a set of required resources that in a conventional manner we can't afford.
Our approach, we called SMALL GLAM SLAM, is a set of practices in term of
cheap hardware acquisition, free software tools (the main one is Wikibase),
a set of essential data models/vocabularies and modelled methodologies to
reduce all the entry barriers for very small organisations like us. I know
there are a lot of commonalities with other initiatives in the Wikimedia
Movement but we don't pretend to reinvent nothing but to bundle the
essential infrastructure for any little organization starting their own
GLAM project. If the application is successful, we expect it to be the
first of many others until the Movement gets a bundle advanced enough.
You'll find the details at
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Programs/Wikimedia_Community_Fund/Ra….
We'll be very happy for any feedback.
Thanks.

Hello everyone,
We want to update you on the Commons Impact Metrics project
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:WMF_support_for_Commons/Commons_…>,
which was announced in the Culture & Heritage section
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_Annual_Plan/2023-2024/…>
of the Foundation’s annual plan. This project responds to community feedback
that reliable and well-maintained metrics are essential for your
partnerships with libraries and cultural institutions. In the first stage
of the project, we analyzed the community-developed GLAM Metrics Needs page
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:WMF_support_for_Commons/GLAM_Met…>
and commonly-used tools, such as BaGLAMa2, GLAMorgan, and GLAM-Wiki
Dashboard.
Since then, we have made significant progress and were able to introduce a
prototype at the recent GLAM Wiki Conference in Montevideo. Now, we are
excited to invite everyone, including those who couldn’t join us at the
conference, to engage in testing this prototype.
Here is how you can help:
1.
Explore the prototype following these User Testing Instructions
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:WMF_support_for_Commons/Commons_…>
.
2.
Share your thoughts, feedback, and questions on the discussion page
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons_talk:WMF_support_for_Commons/Com…>
.
Thank you in advance for your contributions; your feedback will help us
build a more effective and impactful tool for our community.
Warm regards,
