Hi everyone,
Following up on my earlier note, today we’re launching the #WikiHerStory
initiative as part of Women’s History Month this March. We would love your
support in helping to amplify the initiative this month, here are a couple
ways you can get involved:
Share #WikiHerStory on social media
If you would like to help amplify the initiative, please share on your own
social channels (Twitter <https://twitter.com/Wikimedia>, Facebook
<https://www.facebook.com/wikimediafoundation/>, and Instagram
<https://www.instagram.com/wikimediafoundation/>) using #WikiHerStory this
week and through March 31st. As part of the initiative, we are also
launching Wikimedia’s new Instagram channel @wikimediafoundation
<https://www.instagram.com/wikimediafoundation/> - please give us a follow!
We will be posting throughout March, so there are plenty of opportunities
to get involved. You can find sample social media messages, hashtags, and
graphics for the initiative on the Meta-Wiki page here:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Communications/WikiHerStory
You can also read more about the initiative and how to contribute articles
or join an event in this Medium post from Senior Director of
Communications, Anusha Alikhan:

hosting that is not listed on this webpage
<https://wikimediafoundation.org/our-work/addressing-wikipedias-gender-gap/events/>,
please reach out to me at slien(a)wikimedia.org to add it.

Hello everyone,
In March, the Communications team at the Wikimedia Foundation is launching
a global social media campaign for Women’s History Month. The main goal of
this new campaign, starting March 5, is to share the Wikimedia movement’s
progress toward achieving greater gender equity, describe the challenges
that remain, and to invite others to participate in working toward greater
gender equity and representation in the movement.
As part of the campaign, we plan to highlight the amazing people and
initiatives that contribute to greater gender equity across the movement
via social media and the Wikimedia Foundation Medium account
<https://medium.com/freely-sharing-the-sum-of-all-knowledge?source=---------2------------------>.
We are also creating a webpage on the Foundation's website that will
include community-created editing resources for new volunteers interested
in gender equity, as well as a list of events happening around the world
for Women’s History Month.
We would love to hear if you or your communities are running events or
projec*ts **related to gender equity this March* that we could highlight
on our website and social media accounts as part of the campaign.
If you have specific events that you are planning for Women’s History
Month, please email me off list with any relevant links to the event and we
can make sure that we include it on our webpage.
If you are interested in having your gender equity work highlighted on
social media by @Wikimedia channels, please fill out this short form
detailing your efforts and any associated accounts we should tag on social
media to help promote:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSchEZ_-8jCJP6E6UQguy_MjOYgoNUfSyzN…
We will be sharing more information on how to get involved in the campaign
(including a social media toolkit with draft messages, graphics, and
hashtags) soon. We will also be creating a page on Meta-Wiki with more
information about the campaign.
We look forward to hearing from you, thank you!
