Dear fellow Wiki-women,
I am writing to you about non-wiki event, but that has a great space and
potential also for WikiWomen.
The ePF (Fundacja ePaństwo, where I have the honour to serve as
foundation's council member) is hosting in Warsaw, Poland the PDF event.
PDF stands here for: Personal Democracy Forum. The event in a global scale
is very famous for the one taking place in USA. This one is the first ever
edition of the PDF for Central-Eastern Europe (that's why we call it:
PDF-Poland and CEE).
to know more about the event see: http://personaldemocracy.com/poland
program: http://personaldemocracy.com/conferences/europe/2013/program
speakers: http://personaldemocracy.com/conferences/europe/2013/speakers
But the main space for the WikiWomen Initiative that I would see is
actually in the unconference that is taking place the day after actual PDF.
Now, what is the unconference? well, simply check on Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unconference ;) In a nutshell: unconference is
a participant-driven meeting. The ePF is providing a space and
tech-facitilites as internet access, beamer, etc and you are free to use
the space as you wish. Most of the PDF attendees would also attend it,
maybe even some more people? This is a great space that we could use for
the Wikiwomen initiative. What do you think?
Due to a limited number of places it is necessary to submit a registration
form by *January 15th (!) *- the registration is same form for the PDF and
the unconference.
The event has no participation costs, so the only expenses are
accommodation + travel costs.
However thanks to support from Trust CEE we can cover a limited number of
travel & accommodation costs of participants from these 6 countries:
Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.
Thanks to Omidyar Network we can support attendees from Ukraine too. so if
you are from one of these countries and would like to obtain the travel
cost reimburcement, please mention this upon registering. And if you have
colleagues in the countries as Czech Rep., Hungary, Romania, Slovakia,
Slovenia and/or Ukraine, please be so kind to let them know about this
interesting event and opportunity to have travel costs reimbursed.
Looking forward meeting you in Warsaw,
Lantuszka (Julia Maria Koszewska) - your fellow WikiWoman from Poland

Hi everyone,
I'm doing an early FYI post about WikiWomen's History Month which is in
March! This marks our second year!!
I have started a skeleton page on English Wikipedia for 2013. Events on
all sister projects are welcome, and events in every continent - of course!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiWomen%27s_History_Month
I'll be doing a more formal outreach for the month in the upcoming
weeks, but, I hope this light reminder will inspire you to start
brainstorming events and activities - online and offline! The to-do list
can use expanding, of course. So feel free to start filling in sections,
and if you do plan an event, place it into the appropriate section!
Events should take place during the month of March, when International
Women's Day and Women's History Month takes place.
Looking forward to your events and activities, and celebrating with you
to improve women's history on Wikimedia projects.

[Pardon the cross posting]
Hi all,
I received an email about WikiSym 2013, which will be coinciding with
Wikimania in Hong Kong, this year. They have a call for papers,
presentations, and so forth and are deeply interested in having a gender
focus regarding Wikimedia projects in some capacity. Of course, that
can't happen if people don't submit! This is a great opportunity for
researchers interested in women's roles in Wikimedia projects, content,
etc.
You can learn more here: http://opensym.org/2013/submitting/wikipedia
