Dear all,
We would like to inform you that after long deliberations between the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) and the WikiIndaba Steering Committee (WISCom) we have reached an agreement that the suitable dates to host the WikiIndaba conference 2019 in Abuja, Nigeria will be from 8 - 10 November.
We know that this news will disappoint many of you, who were gearing up for the meeting. Unfortunately, operational difficulties created some delays. We have discussed this with the staff of the WMF, and all agree that a postponement will give us some extra time to ensure that a quality event is planned for all. WikiIndaba conference is a key pillar in the Wikimedia movement strategic direction, and an important platform for the African Wikimedia community.
WISCom and the WMF continue to support Wikimedia Nigeria as the host and venue for the conference.
We greatly appreciate your support and understanding, and we hope to see you at WikiIndaba!
Kind regards,
Bobby Shabangu
Thanks.

Do you have any information I can send out to women I know in Nigeria that were interested in attending the conference when it was scheduled earlier this year. They are with the UN Conference on the Status of Women.
I want to also forward information to email UN Women groups, many of them do live in Nigeria.
Thanks,

The information currently available about the conference is on Meta: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiIndaba_conference_2019
Just to make sure, Linda: are these women active Wikimedians? Wiki Indaba is a working conference, for active Wikimedia contributors and organizers, and is not open to the general public. Nor is it a suitable venue for the wiki-curious to come and learn the basics. There are other events in Nigeria that *would* be suitable for that purpose, if your contacts are not already actively involved in Wikimedia.

I think visa process should start soon, november is not too far.
