Hello
We are currently working on updating the content available on WikiFundi.
I would like to ask you for help to update pages, and in particular the
one related to Wikimedia activities in Africa (in short... to talk about
your leading projects :))
Main page of the WikiFundi project :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_WikiFundi
The page about wikimedia in Africa
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_WikiFundi_Content/WikiF…
Suggestions of stuff I think we should really feature
1) presentation of AWMD. Could someone add a two liners in English ?
2) perhaps an example of a global project such as WikiGap ?
3) please add...
Feel free to modify/update the entire page ! It is a wiki

*Dear Friends,During Indaba 2018 in Tunisia, there was an announcement of
setting up a steering committee for the organisation of Indaba. The role of
the steering committee is to create a well-defined process for the
selection of future hosts of Indaba and supporting the Local Organising
Committee (LOC) in the preparation towards the conference.This thought was
carried to the African Meet Up at the Wikimedia Conference, where the issue
was deliberated and a proposed structure of the steering committee was
worked on. We wish to share this document
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NoQFHPdvrQeF6_C9K_M14CIlRdqwaE1_J9_B7Xy…>
to invite your contribution (suggestions and comments) on improving the
structure.[1]The current structure proposes membership/representation from
previous organisers of the conference, 3 volunteers slot (for anybody who
is willing to support the cause of Indaba), 2 liaisons from the Wikimedia
Foundation and a designated representative from the current Local
Organising Committee (LOC). At the moment the steering committee consists
of the representatives of previous organisers and we are looking to fill
the 3 volunteers slot. The steering committee will open a call for
interested volunteers soon. We are also working on a Meta page
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wiki_Indaba> for Indaba and related
activities, we encourage you to visit it when you have the
opportunity.[2]On behalf of the steering committee,*--

Hello, folks.
This new user right will be handy for those of you running editing
workshops on English Wikipedia to bypass the 6-account limit and to grant
the attendees "confirmed" status.
Details here:

Cheers,
A.
Hello,
As I'm new to the list, I'll do a short presentation. I'm Paulo, from
Wikimedia Portugal, and I live in Madeira Island <http://Madeira>, a
Portuguese island which geographically is part of the African continental
platform.
During last Art+Feminism events here at Funchal, we've started a
collaboration with a Portuguese feminine association, Associação Presença
Feminina <http://apfeminina.wixsite.com/inicio>, which has a number of
partnerships, collaborations and initiatives in Africa, and a very close
contact with the African communities living in Madeira.
We are planning a number of joint initiatives, including one to celebrate
the coming Day of Africa, next 25 May, with an edit-a-thon with a focus in
Africa, mainly Guine-Bissau, and aiming at the participation of the African
communities living here at Madeira.
Are there other similar initiatives going on in the Wikimedia Movement, in
Africa and other parts of the world, celebrating the Day of Africa? If so,
we would be very glad to join you.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Paulo Santos Perneta

Hello
I am looking for all recent ressources published (jpg, video, audio or
pdf) that can be helpful to add to the list of WikiFundi ressources.
If your organisation has recently published
* an awesome video to present a project
* a leaflet on how to do xxx
* a tutorial document
* etc.
Please drop the link on the talk page of
*https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipack_Africa_Resources*
Thanks
Flo
PS: to give an example of things I intend to add to this list this year,
I can include
* the two nigerian videos
* the tunisian video related to Medinapedia (help me find the link :)
* the new safety booklet (as soon as I can find it...)
* the Donating_data_to_Wikidata.webm.480p.webm video
Hello everyone
Those at WikiIndaba will perhaps remember that we discussed how to
improve communication within the African community. And amongst the
decisions made was to set back up The African Hour.
Also thought that one of the problem is to reach out to all interesting
members. At the moment, some of those are here on this list. Others may
be found on Facebook. Others elsewhere...
So I suggested we create a list of interesting parties, that would agree
to receive pushed information on their talk page, in a very similar
manner than for the Education newsletter (or Glam, or Research etc.)
Accordingly, I just quickly set up a list of recipients for futur mass
messages, that will be delivered on your favorite talk page.
This is a very soft launch of this list of recipients to get the ball
rolling.
If you are interested :
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Global_message_delivery/Targets/The_African…
And then relay the info in your networks please.
Florence
PS: For those curious of how that works... here is the equivalent list
for the Education newsletter :
