I will like to ask your help in beginning proceedings to have the wiki
article of Dr. Thomas Mensah totally deleted from Wikipedia and done as
soon as possible.
This is because the page still comes up whenever you browse his name and it
has that copyright tag there but displays nothing whatsover of his
biography and achievements. Since Wikipedia is not displaying the bio of
his work and achievements then I will ask that it deletes the page
completely and his name off their servers as well because that tag
implicating copyright issues is in itself defamatory to his character as a
highly respected member of the global academic and scientific society.
If any one has an address to forward this request to then that will be
greatly appreciated, else I say we do what we can as soon as we possibly
can to see to the complete removal of Dr. Thomas Mensah from Wikipedia if
they do not want his article there, rather than keep his name there and
that of Rocky Dawuni under such defamatory circumstances.
I am open to whatever ideas anyone might have in seeing to the resolution
of the above because Wikipedia or some editors there said it was going to
take a week to resolve since the above page a were tagged for deletion on
March 6, 2015 and it's been almost half a month now and they have not been
completely removed: I speak as a concerned Ghanaian on this matter.
Thank you,

3. Re: [Wikimedia-GH] complete deletion of Dr. Thomas Mensah's
name from wikimedia (TheAfricanDream Oral.Ofori)
I had a look to day at the template "Template:Copyviocore" (which presently fills the Mensah-page) and left the following on its talk page:
Horrible template, complicated and deterring
After a discussion on the African-Wikimedians mailing list I have a first look at this template. It looks outright horrible, terribly complicated. Myself being wikipedian for many years I have problems understanding what to do after seeing it.
People who write copy-paste entries and disregard copyrights need guidance. They are not hard-core criminals. They probably often are stubborn and will not take a first advice (guess that is how it was in the Thomas Mensah entry). So blanking the whole or parts is probably a good way of shocking them into rethinking.
The obvious advice is to rewrite the concerned article. This is hidden somewhere in the template but after reading it twice I am not sure what to do then. Of course you guys are terribly bright but I guess much of wikipedia is written by dumb guys like me. This template takes much of space and complicated advice how to handle a procedure but not how to guide interested people to change the thing.
So please dumb this lousy thing down that it looks less lawyerlike. If everybody is whining how the number of editors declines on wikipedia - well here is a pretty good example to explain the reasons.
NB: Else I find that everybody enjoying and using gibberish expressions like "copyvio" deserves a firing squad. Cheers from the African bush! Kipala (talk) 07:19, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
Dear list,
I find this debate exceedingly tiring and meanwhile turning into a waste of time (It has been helpful for some clarifications). One very esteemed fellow wikipedian posted a copy-paste entry. Surely with good intentions but against basic rules. After the necessary reaction we get for weeks now a mountain of textlines on this forum instead of someone just rewriting that entry to get the copy-paste-stuff out of it.
I do not see that anyone is working against Africa, nobody is punishing authors, and the tag very clearly is not damaging to any topic, no matter if it appears on an entry about Jesus, Muhamad, Thomas Mensah or Arteriovenous fistula. Copy paste is a bad habit that potentially can damage Wikipedia.
So will please someone rewrite that article so we can move on to something meaningful?
Greetings from Uswahilini - Kipala - Ingo

Well then something is definately wrong somewhere if Wikipedia is punishing the articles/authors and not realizing that their actions via those tags have a huge potential to hurt the image of the subjects of these articles, especially in cases involving actual persons :-(
Hi, I have followed this discussion for a while.
I understand that the major problem is the copy-paste habit of some editors.
There are texts which can be copied and just passed because they have no copyright. But still it is not a good idea. Because it easily loos like a puzzle where pieces do not fit and tends to result in lousy style.
There are more texts where the copyright problem arises.
This can easily be avoided by just rephrasing the text with own words, if we stick just to one source.
Please all do that and lets get out of this lamentation corner.
Nobody is being persecuted here, nobody fights against African topics.
Lets work on our editig quality, it is not difficult.
Otherwise do learn Swahili and edit on sw:Wikipedia. Then you only deal with kind admins who are extremely patient - and copy-paste is next to impossible!
Cheers, Kipala

Yeah @massly the admins are deleting all my articles.
@all
Even if the article has copyright violations in them, an admin's joy of
deleting articles instead of improving them is basically problematic for
me.
I'm sure after deleting potential articles, they go to bed feeling, 'Oh
yeah, I cleaned Wikipedia today. All articles that have slight copyright
violations, I cleared them all. What a good admin I am.'
Then the following morning, the admin wakes up and finds stats about
contributions from Africa and it goes like: "Oh dang! Africans dont
contribute to Wikipedia at all. I wonder what they do with their time. Even
this man, Patrick Awuah who's well known and the founder of Ashesi
University, and Rocky dawuni who's a rock star even is not on Wikipedia. No
way, Africans! You're not pulling your weight."
Then I look at the admin from above and say, 'sheesh, this is unfair!"
If admin's first priority is deleting potentially good articles, then I
wonder where the "assume good faith" begins and ends.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Assume_good_faith#Good_faith_and_co…
I know there's another policy on Wikipedia hiding somewhere that conflicts
equally the link above.
Happy Independence day to all Ghanaians, and admins deleting my articles
relating to Ghana from wherever they are.

Objet : [Semaine de la langue française et de la Francophonie] Infos &
valorisation du mois de la contribution francophone
À : Wikimedia Chapters cooperation francophone
<francophones(a)wikimedia.ch <mailto:francophones@wikimedia.ch>>
Bonjour,
1. La semaine de la langue française et de la francophonie aura lieu du
14 au 22 mars 2015 :
http://www.dismoidixmots.culture.fr/semainelanguefrancaise/
http://www.dismoidixmots.culture.fr/semainelanguefrancaise/agenda/le-jeu-co…
Si cela vous inspire, *on peut aussi co-rédiger un post de blog sur ce
que "wiki" veut dire dans nos différents pays et ainsi présenter les
différentes entités francophones du mouvement ?
*
Voici un pad avec une proposition de trame :
