Dear Wikimedians, Thank you for participating in the recent regional conversation hosted by the Africa Wiki Women Technical Research team. Reopening of WikiWomen Taskforce Nominations

The WikiWomen Advisory Council* is thrilled to announce the reopening of the nomination process for the WikiWomen Taskforce*! This extension, until December 10th, 2024 , is an opportunity to ensure regional representation, language diversity, gender and sexual orientation inclusion, and ability diversity within the Taskforce. Our goal is to form a team of skilled and experienced individuals committed to advancing gender equity and closing the gender gap in Wikimedia projects. Overview of the Taskforce The WikiWomen Taskforce will consist of up to 13 members, ensuring a balanced group for effective and efficient collaboration. We are looking for a mix of individual volunteers and affiliate volunteers who represent diverse regions, languages, gender identities, and abilities. The Taskforce will include representatives from emerging and established communities, spanning different Wiki projects, roles, and perspectives. To encourage regional perspectives, the Taskforce aims to include at least one representative from each of the following 8 regions: - Middle East and North Africa (MENA) - Sub-Saharan Africa - South Asia (SA) - East, Southeast Asia, and Pacific (ESEAP) - Latin America and The Caribbean (LAC) - United States and Canada - Northern and Western Europe - Central and Eastern Europe and *Central Asia (CEECA) Do visit meta https://meta.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wiki_Women*_Task_Force/Nominations#Reopen…) to check the new update and the further steps to self-nominate. The Africa Wiki Women (AWW) community is excited to invite your community to participate in the Anglophone Regional Conversation for our Africa Wiki Women Technical Research Project. This initiative seeks to address the significant underrepresentation of African women in the Wikimedia movement, both in content creation and leadership roles. Through this project, we aim to foster an inclusive and coordinated platform that empowers African women within the Wikimedia ecosystem by identifying gaps, co-creating strategies, and advancing gender equity. What is involved? We are inviting members and representatives of your community/user group to contribute to this initiative by: - Participating in the regional conversation happening on Friday, 20th Dec 2024, at 15:00UTC. - Engaging in subsequent focused discussions in January 2025. - Completing a survey that will be issued after the regional conversation. What can you expect from the episode? The final episode of 2024, and 41st broadcast of WikiAfrica Hour, is a special edition! We’ll be showcasing some of the African communities and individuals whose achievements over the past year have contributed to raising our voices as African Wikimedians.
