Dear African Wikimedians,
I hope this email finds you well.
The Africa Wiki Women (AWW) community is excited to invite your community to participate in the Anglophone Regional Conversation for our Africa Wiki Women Technical Research Project. This initiative seeks to address the significant underrepresentation of African women in the Wikimedia movement, both in content creation and leadership roles.
Through this project, we aim to foster an inclusive and coordinated platform that empowers African women within the Wikimedia ecosystem by identifying gaps, co-creating strategies, and advancing gender equity.
What is involved?
We are inviting members and representatives of your community/user group to contribute to this initiative by:
-
Participating in the regional conversation happening on Friday, 20th Dec 2024, at 15:00UTC.
-
Engaging in subsequent focused discussions in January 2025.
-
Completing a survey that will be issued after the regional conversation.
Your participation will help shape the direction of this research and ensure the outcomes are inclusive and representative of diverse experiences across the continent.
How to get involved:
Please confirm your interest by registering for the event using this [link] by December 15th, 2024. We will follow up with additional details and the engagement schedule.
Feel free to share the attached invitation flyer within your community’s communication channels to extend the opportunity to more members.
(Participants will be supported with data reimbursement after completing the various stages of the engagement.)
We deeply value your contribution and look forward to collaborating with you on this important initiative to build a stronger, more inclusive Wikimedia movement for African women.
Warm regards,
Nwonwu Uchechukwu Pascaline
