The second edition of the Africa Wiki Challenge is set to begin in the
month of May 2022. In the maiden edition of the contest, the campaign saw
contributions from 184 participants from 12 countries, creating over 1163
articles and improving about 2.5K articles on Wikipedia.
The theme for the second edition

is “Projecting Africa.” Considering the diversity of participants in the
contest, we are expecting active participation from diverse communities.
We are making an open call for volunteers across the continent to support
this year's Africa Wiki Challenge in the following ways;

Sub-regional coordinators (e.g. East Africa, North Africa, etc.)

Translators to help translate our meta page and other communication
materials into various local languages.

Interpreters for French, Hausa, Swahili, etc to support us with
interpretation during our Launch webinar

The Wikimedia Foundation Trust and Safety Policy team will be hosting a
Panel Q&A with community members on February 18, 2022 at 15:00 UTC to
discuss the Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) Enforcement Guidelines and the
need for the community’s involvement in the upcoming Ratification vote. A
special focus of the event will be about why it is important for small and
medium size Wikimedia communities to participate in the ratification vote.
The panelist are: Ruby D-Brown, Isaac Kanguya/Icem4k, Uzoma Ozurumba, and
Nahid Sultan
This event is part of our efforts to engage, educate and inform the
Wikimedia community about the UCoC, the Enforcement Guidelines as well as
the upcoming Ratification Vote for the UCoC.
