Hi there,
The Wikimedia Foundation Community health initiative’s Anti-Harassment
Tools team is developing a new feature to allow users involved with dispute
resolution to understand the sequence of events between two users in order
to confidently make a decision about how to best resolve a user conduct
dispute.
It is important to hear from a broad range of people who are interested in
the design of the tool, so we hope you join the discussion.
You can read more about the Interactive Timeline here
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Community_health_initiative_on_Engl…>
and leave comments on the talk page
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Community_health_initiative_on…>
or email me off list. Alternatively, you can join a discussion on Meta

Subject: Visiting Wikimedian for the Wikimedia Conference 2018
To: Wikimedia Mailing List <wikimedia-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Hi all,
In preparation for the upcoming Wikimedia Conference 2018 – which will take
place from April 20 to 22 in Berlin, Germany[1] – we again launch a call
for a “Visiting Wikimedian”. This initiative aims to transfer practical
knowledge from the German chapter to other Wikimedia movement affiliates
and provides us with an outside view.
The scope of a “Visiting Wikimedian” is mainly to support the organization
of the Wikimedia Conference in terms of logistics and program. The
“Visiting Wikimedian” will be involved in all essential steps of the
planning and organizing process and will be able to contribute in multiple
ways. We are open to designing the tasks together, according to the
Visiting Wikimedian’s skills and experiences and her or his affiliate’s
needs. We are especially looking for a person who can apply the knowledge
to an upcoming event, for example if the affiliate is hosting a regional or
international conference.
You can find more information about the initiative on Meta.[2] Teele Vaalma
(Visiting Wikimedian from Wikimedia Estonia in 2016, [3]) and Davit Saroyan
(Visiting Wikimedian from Wikimedia Armenia in 2017, [4]) have both written
blog posts about their experience.
If you are interested in becoming a Visiting Wikimedian, please reach out /
apply to me directly
until 8 October (incl.).
Best regards,
Cornelius

Thank you all for the incisive contributions on this project.
By all standard , the video was a master piece and i am so glad for those
areas pointed out by Isla especially with respect to licensing .More so, I
am sure no one would bath an eye lid for paying Anakle for doing not just
a good job but in a professional version.
On whether Mark Angel should have a page on Wikipedia or not. I think we
should look at the notability in two folds. Firstly the group and secondly
the individual personae involve I.e Emmauela and Denilson Igwe.
The two main characters have enjoyed multiple significant coverages in
Nigeria media but majority most of then are blog posting. However, if one
should compare their popularly against what is written about them. You will
definitely find a huge gap. Though , some of the talks about them could be
found on some reliable sources... I want to say Yes we can write about them
on Wikipedia.
Frankly speaking, the comedian are more popular on social media than any
other conventional platform where their jobs are mostly showcase.
Therefore, since social media are generally unreliable as per Wikipedia
policy. Hence, they might face a border notability.
As at last time I check the trend of the video on social media , the
trending was amazing.
Dropping my last words on this ...
I will like to say big THANK YOU to the Foundation for their focus on
Nigeria community by creating awareness about Wikipedia in Africa largest
nation.
Thank you Zach, and all the foundation staff for the awesome job.
... And for the Nigerian Team. I say kudos.
I rest my case.

Hi Isla -
You are indeed right: the Mark Angel Comedy crew has not published the
video with the correct license and attribution. We will reach out and ask
for that correction.
For any who are looking to download, use, or modify these 2 video skits,
they are available on Wikimedia Commons with the correct CC-BY-SA 4.0
license:
* "Emmanuella goes to school" -

la_goes_to_school.webm
* "Things come together" with Peter Edochie -

all the best,
- Zack

Mark Angel and Emmanuella just contributed greatly to Wikimedia by
sensitizing their 1.3 million plus fan base Wikipedia in an
intelligently humorous way. It's something the Wikimedia community
would love to see. They had deserved a page so long ago!

Subject: [Wikimedia-l] Ombuds Commission now accepting nominations
To: Wikimedia Mailing List <wikimedia-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Hello all,
Please accept my apologies if you are receiving this a number of times
today. We have sent it out to multiple mailing lists in order to reach as
many community members as possible.
It's coming close to time for annual appointments of community members to
serve on the Ombudsman commission (OC). This commission works on all
Wikimedia projects to investigate complaints about violations of the
privacy policy, especially in use of CheckUser tools, and to mediate
between the complaining party and the individual whose work is being
investigated. They may also assist the General Counsel, the Executive
Director or the Board of Trustees in investigations of these issues. For
more on their duties and roles, see
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Ombudsman_commission
This is a call for community members interested in volunteering for
appointment to this commission. Volunteers serving in this role should be
experienced Wikimedians, active on any project, who have previously used
the CheckUser tool OR who have the technical ability to understand the
CheckUser tool and the willingness to learn it. They are expected to be
able to engage neutrally in investigating these concerns and to know when
to recuse when other roles and relationships may cause conflict.
Commissioners are required to identify to the Wikimedia Foundation and must
be willing to comply with the appropriate Wikimedia Foundation board
policies (such as the access to non-public data policy[1] and the privacy
policy[2]). This is a position that requires a high degree of discretion
and trust.
If you are interested in serving on this commission, please write me an
email off-list to detail your experience on the projects, your thoughts on
the commission and what you hope to bring to the role. The commission
consists of nine members; all applications are appreciated and will be
carefully considered. The deadline for applications is end of day on 18
December 2017.
Please feel free to pass this invitation along to any users who you think
may be qualified and interested.
Thank you!
