Hello folks,
could someone please explain to me what a wiki is? And why wikimania2007.wikimedia.org is a wiki? Because the reaction on initiatives seems to deny the idea i have of a wiki...
(like events and tourism coordinations ... )
Just a quick note: If you want something new, I'd suggest to try meta, and not wikimania2007... Meta *is* a wiki. :P
Thanks,
Lodewijk
Hi,
Thanks for your question.
wikimania2007.wikimedia.org is definitely a wiki, but at the same time, it is also an official website of an event.
It needs some organization, including cleaning. I can't say this site is well organized. But you can check in the recent change page, many people come to this site, and spam on it.
There is a page for planning things: http://wikimania2007.wikimedia.org/wiki/Planning
As for the events, you can check the history: someone put a delete on it, and then it was deleted by the sysop.
As for the tourism coordinations, I think it is deleted by sysop because he doesn't understand what is this page used for.
I have restored these two pages. Hope to find ways to organize them to well linked.
Cheers,
Theodoranian

Hi Theodoranian,
thank you for your kind respons. I understand that there is a lot of spam, and I have of course no objection when that is removed. The problem is imho mainly here that people intend it well, in the case of events there was already a link to it, but just not yet a page, and there might be a better approach then to delete it in that case.
I sincerely hope that more people will join in the website and will be willing to add their dates in the page of tourism planning (the idea is that people can catch up this way, and plan ahead), but also come with event-proposals, such as calvinball, a meetup or something else with which you could make the conference more pleasant.
Best Regards,
Lodewijk
