FYI,
I'm also proposing a "Tech shopping" meetup on Wednesday, on Development Day 1. This will bring folks to the main tech shopping area of Hong Kong, Sham Shui Po, where you can get these plugs, cell phones, computer parts, or whatever electronics you may want.

Hi,
There are adapters available in hardware/household stores in HK, and depending on the location, it should be cheap, anywhere from HKD 12 to
This one is likely the most useful, as it takes both Europlug and US.

In a pinch, you can cheat -- you can plug the two round ends of the Europlug into a three prong UK socket if you find an implement to press into the third grounding hole, thereby releasing the catch for the first two live holes. Don't electrocute yourself!

Yeah, that is the first thing I'll have to buy, too (only US to UK). Those are usually available at airports.

Hi.
Are there Europlug/Schuko to BS1363 adapters available in Hong Kong? I couldn't find any in my country. Where can I buy one for myself?

if you have a regular GSM SIM card and contract with a GSM provider you have the ability to "roam" between your home network and foreign networks abroad with which your network provider has roamining arrangements. Vodacom for instance is internationally Vodafone and that one has many roaming partners and also many branches in other countries.
So yes, you should be able to bring your mobile phone with your SIM card and it will just work in Hong Kong. Sometimes frequencies might differ, that is why mobile phones are sold as "single band", "dual band", "triple band" or even "quad band". In Tansania GSM 450, GSM 900 and GSM 1800 are in use, in Hong Kong GSM 900 and GSM 1800 are in use. So that should work for you as well.
Be aware that using your tansanian SIM card abroad, while roaming, adds a lot of additional costs compared to the fees you pay at home. You pay the regular fees of your provide plus and additional fee for the roaming provider, both for incoming and outgoing calls.
Alternatively you can buy a cheap local prepaid SIM card to be used while you are in Hong Kong. You can get it at any 7-11 store for 78 HKD with one week 3G data. (1 USD = 8 HKD, 1 EUR = 10 HKD). So if you have a phone with no SIM lock you could use that offer instead and just exchange the SIM cards while you are in Hong Kong.
