Hello,
would anybody be interested in a trip to Petra in Jordan http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petra, famous UNESCO heritage site after Wikimania is over?
And would any local person be willing to help with arranging of this trip?
Kind regards
Danny B.
I probably won't be able to join it, but i can help with organization. (By myself, of course, not as WM-IL.)

I'm interested, and I gather that it may be possible.
I'd love to know more about the Nabateans and their "rose red city, half as old as time"

Yes, it belongs to Jordan.
ENWP says that Petra (Greek "πέτρα" (petra), meaning rock; Arabic: البتراء, Al-Batrāʾ) is a historical and archaeological city in the Jordanian governorate of Ma'an that is famous for its rock cut architecture and water conduits system.

I recommend getting in touch with the Israeli CouchSurfing group -- I'm sure they'll be able to offer some touring partners and advice.
Here's a link: http://www.couchsurfing.org/group.html?gid=265
Cheers,

I'm very interested in visiting Petra as well some biblical sites, including Nazareth, Bethlehem and Jerusalem. My major problems at this moment are 1) I still forgot where my passport was put aside and 2) I have too many sites I long for visiting :(
Advices and helps and someone who wants to come together will be welcome.
Cheers,

Does one need additional permits for Bethlehem and Nazareth?
sincerely, Kim Bruning
