Hi.
Are there Europlug/Schuko to BS1363 adapters available in Hong Kong? I couldn't find any in my country. Where can I buy one for myself?
Yeah, that is the first thing I'll have to buy, too (only US to UK). Those are usually available at airports.

Hi,
There are adapters available in hardware/household stores in HK, and depending on the location, it should be cheap, anywhere from HKD 12 to 25.
This one is likely the most useful, as it takes both Europlug and US.

In a pinch, you can cheat -- you can plug the two round ends of the Europlug into a three prong UK socket if you find an implement to press into the third grounding hole, thereby releasing the catch for the first two live holes. Don't electrocute yourself!

FYI,
I'm also proposing a "Tech shopping" meetup on Wednesday, on Development Day 1. This will bring folks to the main tech shopping area of Hong Kong, Sham Shui Po, where you can get these plugs, cell phones, computer parts, or whatever electronics you may want.

Alternatively, I'm worked out that the only appliances I'll be taking that will need charging during the time I'm away are my iPhone and iPad (same connector - pre iPhone 5). I'm sure I can just get a HK/UK Apple charger (or even an HK/UK to USB charging adaptor) fairly cheaply at the airport. It's also entirely feasible that some places may even have USB charging ports, although I won't be counting on it (can any of the Wikimania team confirm or deny?).
Regards,
Charles

During last Wikimania (DC), I had vehemently suggested that accessories like power plugs and split-outs of local / Universal standards and possibly even different kinds of USB chargers could be very suitable candidates for http://shop.wikimedia.org/ merchandise at their stalls.
They could even be branded and thus act as some Wikimedia brand advertisement!
In any case, what I do normally is to keep a power strip with 5 or 6 outlets (with my local standard) with *just a single input plug* that is either universal or adapted to the visiting country's standard. It is just a little extra luggage compared to the size and weight of all other gadgets we must carry anyway.
