I know the sponsorships committee has got a lot of work, but as the time goes by plane tickets are getting more and more expensive. It is even possible now that the requested sponsorships won't be enough to even purchase the ticket for those who get a sponsorphip...

Amount allocated to scholarships has been estimated, and Phoebe is working on the list right now. We have not yet been able to find sponsors to cover all requests.
As a side note, I asked last week on internal-l, which local chapters would be willing to cover costs of their members (maybe even if only one) to come to Wikimania. As of today, only the swiss chapter answered (and it basically do not have sufficient funds for that). We are still waiting for the answers of the french and german chapters in particular :-)
