Hello all,
I just proposed a meetup on MediaWiki Release Management:
http://wikimania2013.wikimedia.org/wiki/Meetups#MediaWiki_Release_Management
Time: Saturday, 1430-1530 in room N114 (next to Logo Square).
Description: MediaWiki is mainly developed for the Wikimedia sites. So, naturally, there is some room for improvement when it comes to the tarball releases. Besides automating the release process, we care a lot about third party users and extension developers. So in this meetup, we'd like to listen to you. What are your needs? Where do you feel the current release (process) is not good enough? What are the biggest issues? And: do you want to help?
In case you are interested, please sign up or just show up J
Best,
Markus (mglaser) and Mark (hexmode)
Hi Markus!
Can I participate remotely? and is that UTC time? ----- Yury Katkov, WikiVote

Hello every body, Our speech tomorrow will be in (Y305) : The Arabic Wikipedia is one of the rapidly growing Wikimedia Projects. As volunteers in the project, we are interested in discussing our experiences and addressing the main challenges that obstruct its growth. Several initiatives have started to take care of some of these challenges but there is more to be done.

Yury,
time is HKT. It’s 6:30 UTC. Unfortunately, there is no video participation support for meetups at Wikimania. I will see to it there’s an etherpad, though. The address will be
http://epl.wikimedia.org/p/ReleaseManagement
I will do my best to protocol and you (and any others participating remotely) can just add your comments there.
Markus
P.S.: If there is the need for regular release management sessions, just contact me. I’d love to get your input. We could do that on IRC? Other suggestions?

Great!! I'm looking forward to this. I hope there will be a bit of discussion about good practice for running wikifarms -- and ways to get more of the relevant bits into the tarball release. SJ

One of the products of our MediaWiki Release Management meetup here at Wikimania yesterday is a new mailing list for people running Wiki Farms. We want to start standardizing the tools and methods of setting up these farms.
If you're interested, please join us: https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikifarm

Since I use gmane to read mailing lists, I already requested the addition there. I'll take care of meta now.
