Hi!
I have had this idea myself (think I brought it up to a few people in
WM2012 as well), but hadn't brought it up here because I don't know if I
can afford it yet. But if I can, you can definitely count me in (although
I'll probably take a flight to Moscow, and then take the train from there).
I was thinking the Trans-Mongolian railway from Moscow to Beijing, then
train to Hong Kong from there, but don't know what type of train yet though.

Hello, Добрый день,
Three years ago some crazy Wikimedians (whose I was) travelled by train
through Europe to join Gdańsk for Wikimania.
This year I intend to join Wikimania Hong Kong by train from France,
mainly with the Trans-Siberian Railway and the Chinese trains. The travel
can take a minimum of about 2 weeks (of intensive train :), but it would be
more comfortable to take more time; the price seems to be about 300-400 €
(+food, visas, etc…), so probably less or similar than the airtravel of
~800 €.
Does anyone is interested to join me? You have time if you want think
about. If we are some people interested in Europe, we could join in
Deutschland before continuing the 10k km :)
