Dear Wikimaniacs!
Kind reminder again. Please fill the Singapore arrival card now!
https://eservices.ica.gov.sg/sgarrivalcard/
Please bring earphones, headsets as there are sessions with language
interpretation enabled in Eventyay including French/Chinese/Spanish to
English. We also have a departure checklist prepared for you.
Check https://wikimania.org on other relevant information such as travel,
directions, venue, and many others.
Do consider wearing masks when travelling for added safety. Wear a
Wikimedia/ Wikimania related shirt if you have one when travelling. You
maybe lucky if you see another Wikimedian looking for a ride share to the

Dear Wikimedians
For the first time in the history of our movement, we're excited to
announce the first WikiWomen Summit at Wikimania!
<https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/2023:WikiWomen_Summit>
The WikiWomen Summit, organized by Vanj Padilla and Rosie
Stephenson-Goodknight will include events organized under thematic tracks
of language diversity and gender, gender organizing, strategy and shared
learnings. Through a series of gender-related presentations, a solidarity
workshop, a side event at Google Singapore and a Women’s Lunch Table, the
WikiWomen Summit aims to strengthen the connection between gender
contributors and allies and feed into future in-person convenings -
including the WikiWomenCamp
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiWomenCamp_2023> which is set to take
place in October 2023!

Hi friends,
A call for advocates and enthusiasts of cuteness the world over: Please
bring a plushie <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuffed_toy> to Wikimania.
Let's cover the stage for the opening festivities on August 16 with cute
plushies from around the world.
If you're not traveling already, then get some good rest this weekend
before Wikimania begins!!! Whether you'll be joining in-person or online, I
know I'm counting the days till we get together and share, like we do.
See you soon.

Hi Wikimaniacs!
I hope you are looking forward to the upcoming Wikimania 2023 conference as
much as I am, and I would like to call your attention to the sessions
on *Movement
Strategy and Governance* from Tuesday-Thursday. All links and information
about the Movement Strategy sessions are conveniently collected* on this
page
<https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/2023:Movement_Strategy_%26_Governance_…>*
on the Wikimania wiki, but here is a quick summary.
- *Tuesday morning* (room 325) will start with an Introduction on
Movement Strategy 2030: what is it, what has been done, and what does it
aim to achieve? Followed by a session from the Igbo community sharing their
experience on how they involved their community in the Movement Charter
creation process through the Ambassadors Program.
- *Tuesday afternoon *(room 325) after lunch we'll have multiple
lightning talks on a diverse range of topics around Movement Strategy,
where community members share their experiences from different initiatives
supported by the Movement Strategy grants program, not in the least
different experiences around pilot-Hubs!
- *Also on Tuesday afternoon* (room 326), the Movement Charter Drafting
Committee is having an *Open Office Hour* with walk-ins, where you can
ask all your questions and exchange ideas with committee members. Drop by,
have a chat, and come grab a stroopwafel!
- *On Wednesday morning* (room 326 & on Eventyay) there are 3 workshops
about different aspects of the Movement Charter: brainstorm and role play
with others to experience the Movement Charter context, and help enrich the
Charter content at the same time.
- *And on Thursday morning* (room 310 & on Eventyay) the Movement
Charter Drafting Committee holds a workshop session to discuss the proposed
Movement Charter chapters, where you can help the Drafting Committee tackle
a few of their questions around Hubs, the Global Council and Charter
ratification.
There is a *Movement Charter one-pager
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Movement_Charter/Content/One-page_draft>*
available on Meta to help you prepare for the sessions.
The chapters from the Movement Charter are under community review at the
moment, and if you'd like to share your feedback beyond the sessions
mentioned above, please leave your comments on the respective Meta talk
pages.
Hope to talk to you all next week!
Best,
Ciell

Hi all,
Just asking if Wikimania '23 had considered or have joined any Singaporean
government initiatives in trade fairs/conferences, so participants can save
a dime or two on sim cards and grab trips, etc.?
Saw that Gardens by the Bay is in both the Wikimania and the govt's MICE
support programme. Considering we are using that venue at the end of the
event, is Wikimania considered a MICE/SMAP programme for large conventions?
If this is the case then how can we save a dime or two on sim cards and
(probably) grab trips, or post-conference events for those who want to
relax in Sentosa?
(It wrote that participants can get Grab, Air fare (prob useless by now),
SIM card and Sentosa tokens.)

Thank you to all the organisers for all their hard work and continuing
support, not least the useful "Scholar attendee Guide".
However, what I can't find in that document, that I (and no doubt many
others) would find useful is explicit directions from the airport to
the scholarship hotels.
It does say "MRT - Go to Terminal 3, follow Train to City sign (+/- SGD2)"
What would be useful is step-by-step directions on where to change
trains (if required), where to alight, and walking directions from the
station to the hotel(s).
Maybe also which end of the train to use, which exit to use from the station.
Could someone with local knowledge provide that, please?
