Because people writing to the Wikimedia Foundation don't expect their
messages being read by the whole world, for one thing. As to write
access being restricted, imagine the fun some of our favorite trolls
would have, answering Wikipedia's email.
On helpdesk-l they already can... of course, the more people that join
and send *good* information, the less harm that will be caused by the
*bad*...
