For wikidata, there exists a resolver at https://tools.wmflabs.org/wikidata-todo/resolver.php, which allows me to build URLs such as
https://tools.wmflabs.org/wikidata-todo/resolver.php?quick=VIAF:12307054 , or https://tools.wmflabs.org/wikidata-todo/resolver.php?prop=P227&value=120...
in order to address wikidata items directly from their external identifiers.
Squid is more appealing for viewing the items. Does a similar mechanism exist there?
Cheers, Joachim
Hi Joachim,
Thanks for the suggestion. We are at it. Preview:
http://tools.wmflabs.org/sqid/dev/#/view?quick=VIAF:12307054
But which of these special keys (like "VIAF") should the service support? (note that there are 1100+ external id properties ...)
The other syntax with prop=P227&value=120434059 is not implemented yet.
Best regards,
Markus

Thanks, Magnus. Could you also change the SQID taret URL to the stable version (remove "dev/" from URL)?

Very cool!
Question: What would it take to have DBpedia URIs added to the 100 external identifier cross references? As you know, there are owl:sameAs relations in DBpedia that have Wikidata URIs as objects. We should really make the mutually beneficial nature of DBpedia and Wikidata clearer [1][2][3], at every turn :)

Not quite sure I follow. Do you want to * query Wikidata but open the respective DBpedia page instead? * query DBpedia but open the respective Wikidata page instead? * query and open DBpedia?

Much simpler than all of that.
My point is that pages like https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q44461, don't have any DBpedia cross references in the Identifiers section. Once those relations are added to Wikidata I would expect DBpedia URIs to simply show up in he pages emitted by Wikidata tools (e.g., Reasonator, Squid etc..).
Naturally, if there was an option for Reasonator, Squid etc. to work with SPARQL endpoints, generically, that would be a huge bonus too :)

Yes, they would. But that's an issue of creating the respective Wikidata property, and filling in the values.
What does it have to do with the resolver tool?

As Magnus says, that would require an new Wikidata property. I can walk you through the process of requesting one, but would need a couple of examples to validate a proposal, and determine how it should be structured.
