Hi,
this is just to let you guys know that we made some major progress with the Property-Suggester in the last couple of weeks:
1. The suggester is now integrated with the UI of the Edit-Item-Page, so that suggestions are displayed, when a user wants to add a new statement to an item. 2. The suggestions can/will be filtered by user input (a prefix search is applied to labels and aliases of possible property suggestions) 3. When there are no (more) suggestions available at some point, a normal search considering all properties is used as a fallback
You can test all this yourself by prentending to add a new statement to http://suggester.wmflabs.org/wiki/index.php/Item:Q4 or http://suggester.wmflabs.org/wiki/index.php/Item:Q5.
As last time we are looking forward to your feedback and ideas

Hi, where can I have info about the PropertySuggester? I just knew Magnus' Missing prop tool https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:Magnus_Manske/missing_props.js

Hey!
Only now catching up ofter some travel. This is working pretty nicely. One question though:
- When there are no (more) suggestions available at some point, a normal search
considering all properties is used as a fallback
So, if there are 3 mathing suggestions, but a normal search would return 5 more matches, are these combined? Or is the normal search only triggered when there are *no* matching suggestions?
Btw, it would be nice to highlight the search term/prefix in the suggestion window, but that has nothing to do with the suggester as such... I suppose that would be a feature of the basic entity selector.

Hi Daniel,
we use the normal search as soon as more results are requested than we could find and extend the result with properties only found by the search.

Hi, the results are combined if necessary: Lets say we have 4 suggestions that match the current Input & properties of the item being edited, while 7 properties are needed/wanted. Then the missing 3 would be taken from a regular search. I agree with your ideas on highlighting the prefix. In this context I would also like to find a way to highlight our suggestions, so that the user can tell where the normal search results start. - Moritz ________________________________________ Von: wikidata-l-bounces@lists.wikimedia.org [wikidata-l-bounces@lists.wikimedia.org]" im Auftrag von "Daniel Kinzler Gesendet: Montag, 3. We shouldn't highlight them. There should be no reason for them to know where the suggestions come from. It's purely an implementation detail. When using Wikidata it shouldn't make a difference if this is "still" a suggestion or already just a normal search result.
Cheers Lydia
Hi,
the search result is combined. e.g. if there are 3 matching suggestions and normal search would return 5 more we combine these results. We make sure, that there are no duplicate results when the same properties are provided by suggester AND normal search.
