Hello,
Last week, we announced that a limited release of the “default values for
all languages” feature—introducing the language code "mul" for labels and
aliases—will soon be coming to Wikidata. We are currently working on
improvements for “mul” in the Termbox on Item pages. We’ve already received
feedback from some of you on the discussion pages, but we’d also love to
hear from those who prefer to *provide* *anonymous feedback*.
Please share your thoughts on this 5-10 minute anonymous survey until
August 4: https://wikimedia.sslsurvey.de/Wikidata-default-values-feedback
If you have any questions or concerns feel free to let us know in this
Phabricator ticket (phab:T356169 <https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T356169>
)
Many thanks for your time.

Dear Wikidata Community,
We’re excited to share the release of *Lexica*, a new web-based tool
designed to simplify contributions to lexicographical data on Wikidata, as
a present for Wikidata’s 12th birthday! 🎉
Lexica aims to address some common challenges contributors face,
particularly when editing from mobile devices. We hope Lexica makes it
easier for you to contribute from anywhere.
Lexica’s first main activity is linking Lexemes with corresponding Items on
Wikidata. As we keep developing Lexica, we’ll be adding more activities to
further support contributions to lexicographical data.
Other features of Lexica:
- *Languages for contributions*: Bahasa Indonesia (id), Bahasa Melayu
(ms), Banjar (bjn), Deutsch (de), English (en), Jawa (jv), Minangkabau
(min), Sunda (su)
- *Interface languages*: Bahasa Indonesia (id), English (en)
- *Light and dark mode*: Switch to your preferred theme
You can *try Lexica on both mobile and PC*:
https://lexica-tool.toolforge.org
For more details, visit the *Lexica tool page on Wikidata*:
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Lexica
*Lexica is under active development*, and we're working to improve it based
on your feedback. If you have any suggestions or find any issues, please
reach out to us at support(a)wscproject.org
We’ll also be joining Wikidata 12th Birthday Presents Calls on October 29th
at 10:00 UTC. We’ll be available to discuss Lexica and answer any
questions. You can find more details, including the link to join, on the
Wikidata Birthday Presents Calls page [1].
Thank you, and happy contributing from the Wikidata Software Collaboration
team in Indonesia.
Happy birthday, Wikidata! 🎁

Wikidata's 12th birthday is just around the corner, and we couldn't be more
excited! 🎉 Since going live on 29 October 2012, Wikidata has grown into a
thriving open-source knowledge base, thanks to all of you. Every year, the
Wikidata community comes together to celebrate, with events happening
around the world throughout October and November 2024.
Here’s why we celebrate:
- To acknowledge the achievements of our community
- To bring people together
- To introduce Wikidata to the rest of the world and bring more people
onboard

new tools, features, or anything that brings value or joy to our volunteers.
👉 Get inspired by past birthday presents
<https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Twelfth_Birthday/Presents> and
start working on something special for this year’s celebration!
Join the Online Birthday Calls on October 29th

Dear Wikimedians,
Greetings to all of you.
In celebration of Wikidata’s 12th birthday, WikiProject India members are
organizing a 5-week long Data-a-thon. From October through November,
various communities and user groups across India will lead weekly
activities, each focused on improving specific areas of Wikidata related to
India. The goal is to enhance the quality of India related items and usage
of India-related properties on Wikidata through these collaborative efforts.
This week, from October 13th to October 19th, we’re focusing on improving
data related to hospitals and health centers in Wikidata, with Wikimedians
of Kerala User Group <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedians_of_Kerala>
leading this effort.
We warmly invite you to participate in this important initiative and
contribute to enriching the information available on Wikidata. You can find
all the details on the event page below:

🗓️ Date: October 13th – October 19th, 2024 (Online)
📄 Event Page: Wikidata Twelfth Birthday Data-a-thon

Hi everyone,
Our next Wikidata+Wikibase office hour
<https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Events#Office_hours> is scheduled
for Wednesday 16th October at 16:00 UTC (18:00 Berlin). As usual, the office
hour will happen in the Wikidata Telegram
<https://t.me/joinchat/IeCRo0j5Uag1qR4Tk8Ftsg> channel.
*What's the Wikidata+Wikibase office hour?*
*The Wikidata and Wikibase office hours are online events where the
development team at WMDE presents what we have been working on over the
past quarter, and the community is welcome to ask questions and discuss
important issues related to the development of Wikidata and Wikibase.*
Make sure to mark your calendars.

Hi everyone,
Are you building applications or services using data from Wikidata? We
would love to hear from you!
We are currently researching how to make it easier for developers to
access Wikidata’s data. We have a short survey to better understand
which access methods you are currently using, what issues you have
with them and what we can improve for the future. For more details
please see https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Usability_and_usefulness/2024-Data_a…
Cheers and thank you!
