Hey folks :)
We've been doing a lot of groundwork over the past months in order to support new entity types. We need this for Wikimedia Commons support among other things. Today we have created the very first media info entity. This is the equivalent of an item but for storing structured data about media files. It's still ugly and unusable but it's a major step on the way to supporting structured data on Commons and I wanted to share that with you. Lots of work ahead still but we're making progress. Next step: public, ugly, not very functional demo system. \o/

What will this mean for Property P18 exactly? Will the object of that property become a Mediainfo entity instead of a Commons file?

I don't have a final answer for this now. The goal is to have the data/media info entity integrated in the file page. So from that point it should not make a difference at all. We'll need to see if we change anything for re-users. But we'll see when we are further along.

Lydia, how is the discussion going around the structure of licensing metadata going? Is there some sense of what structure will be used for that yet?
