Hello all,
After some months of discussions and meetings we started this month our first GLAM Project in Brasil.
Finally we added Brazil to the GLAM map [1]. Since it's our first pilot project, we are learning the best way to upload content and organize all info regarding the uploaded files.
Our partner, Immigration Museum of the state of São Paulo[2] is receiving support from Creative Commons Brazil and from our team to adopt CC licenses and publish open content.
That first pilot project[3] will cover a new exhibition that will be launched soon by the museum. During the next months we will discuss regarding massive uploads regarding other exhibitions and internal museum's archives and collections.
Since it's our first project, we will need additional guidance and support. During the last days we received some contradictory information from Commons admins/contributors.
The museum sent created an OTRS ticket to provide info regard the ownership and licenses of the uploaded content and contents that will be added by the museum during the near future[4].
Here[5] you can see the pilot project. All guidance and tips and tricks are welcome ;-)
Best regards

Hi Rodrigo,
Congratulations! It would be awesome if you could share whatever info or tips you get in a blog or something so that other GLAM newbies can follow how a GLAM project starts from scratch. I am saying this because I am considering starting a GLAM project but I don't know how or where to start.
Best, Reem

Hello Reem,
Sure, we will try to document all steps to be able to apply that learnings during the next GLAM projects.
We have 2 other GLAM projects under discussion, so it will be very important to have in hands.
Thanks!

Hey Reem,
The best living documentation about GLAM-Wiki is at https://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/GLAM . Its not great... the last concerted effort to improve the movement wide documentation was 2013-ish.
More of the up-to-date "how to" materials are at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:GLAM_learning_patterns .
I would be happy to consult with you on questions you have, we can either have a call and/or we can meet during Wikimania. There are also going to be several dozen folk at Wikimania, with very deep experience in various GLAM-Wiki contexts that you could meet (like Barbara who responded earlier). Because GLAMs have their own professional expectations, and the variety of project types for GLAM-Wiki partnerships, its frequently useful to know the landscape of opportunities and talk to folks who have tried projects similar to what you want to do.
Cheers,
Alex Stinson

Hey Rodrigo,
I was meaning to reply last week about helping with guidance and connections, but didn't want to be presumptuous/create confusion about transitioning into my new role as GLAM-Wiki Strategist. [1]
As you document projects: please do keep me in the loop. When I was working with the Wikipedia Library, I tried to refine a slightly better process for making case studies reusable for other communities (still working on that) [2]. We may be able to create something that is very relevant for other communities working in the Ibercoop/Emerging communities context as you continue to build successes.
As you run into challenges, I would particularly recommend joining the private cultural-partners mailing list[3]. The cultural partners list is a closed list for Wikimedians working in the GLAM-Wiki space, to help talk through challenges and unannounced partnerships. There you can ask more candid questions, and you will find a number of the more experienced folks in GLAM-Wiki.
Cheers,
Alex Stinson

Hi Rodrigo,
My advice would be, for everyone doing GLAM projects, translate these two brochures to Portguese to have good practises on paper ready to read for your institutions: -How to work successfully with Wikipedia: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WMBE-How_to_work_successfully_with_W... -Free Knowledge thanks to Creative Commons Licenses: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WMBE-Free_Knowledge_thanks_to_Creati...
The second is about why non-comemrcial is problematic and that brochure one can largely be translated here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Free_knowledge_based_on_Creative_Commons_lic...
From both brochures I have the source files available. These both are very
inspirational and give the best practises of Wikimedia around the world with the beste examples possible described. (In the first brochure you can modify one page (page 21) to your local needs.)
