Hello,
I work for the WalterP. Reuther Library of Labor and Urban Affairs at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. We are an archives specializingin labor history, Detroit urban history, and the history of Wayne State University. We recently became aware of your GLAM initiative, and we are interested in becoming involved. I am writing to see what next steps we should take. I did not see any local contacts or chapters in the Detroit area. We would be interested in having a Wikimedian assigned to us. Alternatively, we'd like some guidance on what we can do internally without a Wikimedian being assigned to us. Please feel free to contact me through any of the methods listed in my signature below.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Sincerely, Johanna Russ
Hi Johanna-
Thanks for reaching out! We do actually have a bit of activity and support in the Michigan area. We have a GLAM volunteer, Chris Leeder, at the University of Michigan. He is also supported by Cheryl Moy, who has been involved in the Campus Ambassador program.
We also have a professor at Michigan State who has expressed interest in helping regional GLAMs and connecting projects with his students and coursework.
We have an ongoing partnership with The Henry Ford. If you'd like to reach out to them to seek mutual support for GLAM projects, I'm happy to share their contact information with you off-list. Likewise, we have an advocate at the Chippewa Nature Center.
If you're still thinking through what sort of project or partnership is right for you, you can go through this step-by-step guide on the GLAM-Wiki US "Contribute" page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:GLAM/US/Contribute
Do let me know if you'd like further contact details off-list. Cheryl and Chris are cc'd as a ping for them, since I believe they're both already on this list.
Best, Lori

Ah and I forgot to mention that we also have an ongoing partnership with the Gerald Ford Presidential Library. Our lead contact there, Bettina, is cc'd. I'm sure she'd love a partner in crime, as she's thinking through and beginning work at her institution as well.
Please note that I'm disregarding any knowledge of Michigan geography that I may or may not have, so I'm sorry if some of this information is less relevant. : )
